Win a Wii Fit from the Coupon Cupboard

Another organization is using the popular Wii Fit to help their cause!  I absolutely love this.  I have been on the lookout for a Wii Fit, but have been unsuccessful in locating one.  Until I can set up my own giveaway, I will continue to find these ways to help you get a Wii Fit.

Here are the details – You need to gather a box of at least 20 items together for your local food pantry.  Then mark the box as such and take a picture.  When you drop off the items, you should get a receipt and if possible a photo of the delivery.  The go to the Coupon Cupboard forum and post an blurb about your experience.  The thread will be closed on the 28th of February. There are additional ways to enter, so go and check out the thread.  And as of my writing, there are no posts on the thread.  You could be the first!

I hope that food pantries around the world benefit from the possiblitiy of getting a cheap (free) Wii Fit.  Great idea you ladies had over there at the Cupboard!  May your promotion be successful!

I have been busy updating content to that which may benefit you, my reader, the most. I have established pages for exercises you can unlock in the yoga and strength training sections. Everything is under development, so it is just a list right now, but I hope to be able to get some screen shots to post with titles. My goal is so you can get an understanding of what your workout will look like.

Wii Fit Fridays – Diary of Wii Fit Weight Loss

Day 1

I have seen many blogs that post a weekly account of their progress with the Wii Fit on Fridays. I have been letting my Wii workout time slide, since I have been letting other family member’s obligations take precedence of my time. Here is my conscious decision to recommit to my workouts on the Wii Fit.

First, I need to define my goals. The biggest one I have is to lose weight. I have been shown since purchase that with dedicated time I can indeed lose weight with the Wii Fit! Since, I am 5′ 4″ stretching it, I really need to be in the 130 # range. (A side note: when I started my journey I was tipping the scales at 160. Today I weighed in on the balance board and I was at 154#.)

Second, in order to facilitate weight loss with the Wii Balance Board, I am also using Gillian Micheals’ Fitness Ultimatum 2009 three times a week. The simple reason for this is that I am not patient! I do want to see the scale to descend and this game really kicks my butt. On the days that I use Fitness Ultimatum, I will warm up with the Yoga program .

And lastly, I will be posting how my progress is coming via posts here on my blog. This makes me accountable to the world. I need that external motivation or I am more likely to let the family life dictate my schedule. Then my Wii Fit is sad I haven’t worked out for days at a time, and I eat just one more of those peanut butter cups sitting on my desk!

If you are joining me, then here’s to you! May we continue toward our goals of ultimately losing weight!

How the Wii Balance Board Works

I knew that it was an interesting piece of technology, but I didn’t realize just how much went into making the balance board possible.  I found this interesting little tid bit:  http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/wii5.htm

I started in the middle of the article with the Wii Fit explaination and ended up reading all the sections.  Our family got into a brief discussion about this on Saturday when they were introduced to the board.  There were a lot of therories about what was able to track the movements and what-not.  This article lets you know exactly what makes the technology possible.  Nintendo really thought outside of the box on using exsisting technology in a brand new fashion.

Since the Wiis are so in demand, I hope that the design team is able enjoy the rewards of their hard work.  It is not everyday that you can say that you revolutionized an industry and energized consumers.  And maybe, just maybe convewrted one underactive, overweight person the motivation they needed to change their life.  That really would be the icing on the cake for Nitendo and their team in my opinion.

I know in my life I have become more consious of how long I work out, how much time passes between workouts, and researching what type of nutrition  I need for this stage in life since I starting Wiiing.  Had anyone told me a year ago that a gaming system would do all that for me, I would have LMAO.  The general image that video games conjure up are quite the opposite.  So I send my thanks to Nitendo for breaking the mold and allowing me to become a better individual!

May the Wii Fit be in your future!

Win a Wii Fit from Michigan Humane Society

I am on the look out for ways to get Wii Fits into your hands.  Here is a raffle to win a Wii Fit that also benefits a good cause!

For $10, you get a chance to win not only the Wii Fit, but also a Wii console .  Or you can go the route of 3 tickets for $25.  This is perfect for those that do not own the console or the game. You stand a good chance to win, since they are limiting the field to only 2,500 tickets. Ticket sales close on the 9th of February.

The question is will they send the prize to you if you do not live close…  It only states that you do not need to be present to win.  There is a contact number on the order raffle form to be able to order by phone and at that time you could ask if they would ship. Perhaps  if you paid for the shipping  cost it could be arranged.

To those who decide to participate, good luck on winning a Wii Fit game!  And Michigan Humane Society, I hope that you are able to sell out all available tickets to help you on your mission for helping homeless pets!

Wii Fit Yoga Versus Yoga Instructor

This past weekend I was able to invite a Yoga instructor friend over.  She had never seen the Wii Fit and was curious about it since she had students ask about it.  It was an adventure.

Let’s just say that I don’t feel so bad that I am not rock steady when it comes to the yellow circle!  She definatly has more flexibility and strength than me, and she still had a fair track on balance screen.  Now I know that you will have some movement even if you are good!

Bottom line was that she said that the Wii Fit instructed the yoga poses really good.  I have been doing them correctly, another secret concern.  She was also intrigued that the Balance Board monitored all the subtle balancing movements of your feet.  She thought that I could become proficient with yoga  in the comfort of my own home  with the Fit Balance Board.

So here review as a yoga instructor of the the Wii Fit Yoga program is a definite thumbs up!

Another scheduled title

Filed under: Wii Balance Board games — Tags: , — @ 6:06 pm

I apologize that this announcement is behind everyone else, but I can not find a direct link to game information. I have spent days searching and only find what is posted on other blogs. Since I pride myself in giving my readers facts on Wii balance board games, I am hesitant to post the information. On the other hand, if I don’t, someone will say I missed a game that uses the Fit balance board. So here is a link to the blog post I like the most:

http://wii.ign.com/articles/944/944183p1.html

The game is entitled Marbles! Balance Challenge. It seems intuitive, but without info from the company I can not be 100% accurate. My thought is it expands on the marble type challenge already a part of the Wii Fii game. The difference is there are obstacle challenges and levels to overcome.

WE Ski & Snowboard

Another Wii Fit game is scheduled for release!

Expanding on their first Nintendo Wii game for the balance board, Bandia Namco is releasing WE Ski & Snowboard. Unlike We Ski, it appears that you will be able to do more tricks and stunts at the Fun Park. Check it out here: http://www.namcobandaigames.com/games/weskisnowboard/features

My family wanted We Ski for Christmas, but it was sold out around us. Huge surprise…. Now I think that I will wait until the expanded version arrives in March. With better maneuverability and backgrounds, who wouldn’t wait at this point.
